The Bell 206 is a family of two-bladed, single- and twin-engined helicopters, manufactured by Bell Helicopter at its Mirabel, Quebec, plant. Originally developed as the Bell YOH-4 for the United States Army's Light Observation Helicopter program, it was not selected by the Army. Bell redesigned the airframe and successfully marketed the aircraft commercially as the five-place Bell 206A JetRanger. The new design was eventually selected by the Army as the OH-58 Kiowa. Bell also developed a seven-place LongRanger, which was later offered with a twin-engined option as the TwinRanger, while Tridair Helicopters offers a similar conversion of the LongRanger called the Gemini ST. The Bell OH-58 Kiowa is a family of single-engine, single-rotor, military helicopters used for observation, utility, and direct fire support. Bell Helicopter manufactured the OH-58 for the United States Army based on its Model 206A JetRanger helicopter. The OH-58 was in continuous U.S. Army service from 1969 to 2017, when it was replaced in these roles by the Boeing AH-64 Apache and Eurocopter UH-72 Lakota.
The latest model, the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior, is primarily operated in an armed reconnaissance role in support of ground troops. Pictured is a U.S Army OH-58D Kiowa Warrior Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter at Kandahar Airfield in 2011. The primary mission of the helicopter is in the scout attack role. The helicopter can be optionally equipped to carry out transport and utility roles using equipment kits installed externally on existing hard points. The OH-58D is equipped with two universal quick-change weapons pylons. Each pylon can be armed with two Hellfire missiles, seven Hydra 70 rockets (pictured), two air-to-air Stinger missiles or one .50-calibre fixed forward machine gun (pictured). A cargo carrying hook is rated to carry loads up to 2,000lb. Emergency casualty evacuation can be carried out transporting two casualties on litters (stretchers), plus over 320kg of supplies to an operating radius of more than 185km. The Kiowa can be used for insertion of up to six troops for critical point security missions. Kandahar Airfield, Kandahar Provence in Afghanistan was used by the RAF for combat operations from 2001 to 2014. Part of Kandahar Airfield was known as RAF Kandahar, It operated RAF, Fleet Air Arm and Army Air Corps aircraft and was one end of the "Air Bridge" that started in RAF Brize Norton in the UK.All other ISAF airborne forces were also based there. Kandahar International Airport as it was called originally is located some 10 miles South-East of the city of Kandahar in Afghanistan. Its predecessor model UAZ-450 (produced between 1958-1966) was based on the chassis and engine of the GAZ-69 jeep, and was the first "forward control" vehicle of this type to be built in the Soviet Union and Russia.
Vehicles produced between 1965–1979 were equipped with old-style lights: turn signal lights were colorless (white), rear lights were round, and the back of the body was rounder. Subsequent post-1979 models got amber (yellow) signal lights, and rear lights were slightly bigger and rectangular.
In 1985 the van was upgraded and spun off into separate submodels: 39625, 3962, 3303, 3909 and 2206. The upgrade consisted of lighting fixtures that met modern international requirements, alarms, a new instrument panel, and a new speedometer. The brakes were redesigned. PZL (Państwowe Zakłady Lotnicze - State Aviation Works) was the main Polish aerospace manufacturer of the interwar period, and a brand of their aircraft. Based in Warsaw between 1928 and 1939, PZL introduced a variety of well-regarded aircraft, most notably the PZL P.11 fighter, the PZL.23 Karaś light bomber, and the PZL.37 Łoś medium bomber.
In the post-war era, aerospace factories in Poland were initially run under the name WSK (Transport Equipment Manufacturing Plant), but returned to adopt PZL acronym in late 1950s. This was used as a common aircraft brand and later as a part of names of several Polish state-owned aerospace manufacturers referring to PZL traditions, and belonging to the Zjednoczenie Przemysłu Lotniczego i Silnikowego PZL - PZL Aircraft and Engine Industry Union. Among the better-known products during this period is the PZL TS-11 Iskra jet trainer and PZL-104 Wilga STOL utility aircraft.
After the fall of communism in Poland in 1989, these manufacturers became separate companies, still sharing the PZL name. In the case of PZL Mielec, the abbreviation was later developed as Polskie Zakłady Lotnicze - Polish Aviation Works. NOTAR (no tail rotor) is a helicopter system which avoids the use of a tail rotor. It was developed by McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Systems (through their acquisition of Hughes Helicopters). The system uses a fan inside the tail boom to build a high volume of low-pressure air, which exits through two slots and creates a boundary layer flow of air along the tailboom utilizing the Coandă effect. The boundary layer changes the direction of airflow around the tailboom, creating thrust opposite the motion imparted to the fuselage by the torque effect of the main rotor. Directional yaw control is gained through a vented, rotating drum at the end of the tailboom, called the direct jet thruster. The Fairey Rotodyne was a 1950s British compound gyroplane designed and built by Fairey Aviation and intended for commercial and military uses. A development of the earlier Gyrodyne, which had established a world helicopter speed record, the Rotodyne featured a tip-jet-powered rotor that burned a mixture of fuel and compressed air bled from two wing-mounted Napier Eland turboprops. The rotor was driven for vertical takeoffs, landings and hovering, as well as low-speed translational flight and autorotated during cruise flight with all engine power applied to two propellers.
One prototype was built. Although the Rotodyne was promising in concept and successful in trials, the programme was eventually cancelled. The termination has been attributed to the type failing to attract any commercial orders; this was in part due to concerns over the high levels of rotor tip jet noise generated in flight. Przez 20 lat wyprodukowano blisko 5500 maszyn, w wielu wersjach specjalistycznych opracowanych w Świdniku. Pomimo że pierwotnie śmigłowiec został zaprojektowany przede wszystkim do zastosowań cywilnych, w WSK Świdnik powstały także jego warianty wojskowe. Trafiły one głównie do ludowego Wojska Polskiego. Mimo przestarzałej konstrukcji, śmigłowce Mi-2 wykorzystywane są w wielu państwach do dnia dzisiejszego (2020). Powstało także wiele modernizacji (m.in. Mi-2 plus i Mi-2A), większość opiera się na wymianie silnika na nowszy.

Moore, a Bell Helicopter Textron európai igazgatója elmondta, a légimentés mellett a gép felhasználási lehetősége rendkívül széleskörű, hiszen tűzoltásra vagy rendőrségi és biztonsági feladatokra éppúgy alkalmas, mint VIP-szállításokra, vagy teheremelésre. A bemutató alkalmával természetesen repülés közben is kipróbálhattuk a Bell-412-est, sőt, azok a szerencsések, akik rendelkeztek helikoptervezetői szakszolgálati engedéllyel, egy iskolakör erejéig maguk is vezethették a gépet amerikai kollégájuk felügyeletével. The Kaman SH-2 Seasprite is a ship-based helicopter originally developed and produced by American manufacturer Kaman Aircraft Corporation. It has been typically used as a compact and fast-moving rotorcraft for utility and anti-submarine warfare missions.
Development of the Seasprite had been initiated during the late 1950s in response to a request from the United States Navy, calling for a suitably fast and compact naval helicopter for utility missions. Kaman's submission, internally designated as the K-20, was favourably evaluated, leading to the issuing of a contract for the construction of four prototypes and an initial batch of 12 production helicopters, designated as the HU2K-1. Under the 1962 United States Tri-Service aircraft designation system, the HU2K was redesignated H-2, the HU2K-1 becoming the UH-2A. Beyond the U.S. Navy, the company had also made efforts to acquire other customers for export sales, in particular the Royal Canadian Navy; however, the initial interest of the Canadians was quelled as a result of Kaman's demand for price increases and the Seasprite performing below company projections during its sea trials. Due to its unsatisfactory performance, from 1968 onwards, the U.S. Navy's existing UH-2s were remanufactured from their originally-delivered single-engine arrangement to a more powerful twin-engine configuration.
In October 1970, the Seasprite was selected by the U.S. Navy as the platform for the interim Light Airborne Multi-Purpose System (LAMPS) helicopter, which resulted in greatly enhanced anti-submarine and anti-surface threat capabilities being developed and installed upon a new variant of the type, designated as the SH-2D/F. Accordingly, during the 1970s and 1980s, the majority of the existing UH-2 helicopters were remanufactured into the improved SH-2F model. In this configuration, the Seasprite extended and increased shipboard sensor and weapon capabilities against several types of enemy threats, including submarines of all types, surface ships and patrol craft that may be armed with anti-ship missiles.
The Seasprite served for many decades with the U.S. Navy. Highlights of its service life included operations during the lengthy Vietnam War, in which the type was primarily used to rescue downed friendly aircrews within the theatre of operations, and its deployment during the Gulf War, where Seasprites conducted combat support and surface warfare operations against hostile Iraqi forces. In more routine operations, the Seasprite was operated in a number of roles, including anti-submarine warfare (ASW), search and rescue (SAR), utility and plane guard (the latter being performed when on attachment to aircraft carriers). The type was finally withdrawn in 2001 when the last examples of the final variant, known as the SH-2G Super Seasprite were retired. A filmet Jugoszláviában forgatták: a dalmáciai Dubrovnikban és a hercegovinai Mostarban, látványos tengerparti autós üldözéssel, szigetek közötti hajókázással és a történelmi óvárost bemutató helikopteres légi felvételekkel. Egyes jeleneteket (hajóbelső, föld alatti labor) a rendező monokróm technikával hangsúlyozott ki.
A James Bond-filmek akciós- és vígjátéki elemeit is alkalmazó film Magyarországon nagy sikert aratott, hiszen az 1960-as évek és 70-es évek szocialista Magyarországán Bond-filmeket politikai okokból nem mutattak be. A film DVD-változatát 39 évvel az ősbemutató után, 2008-ban adták ki, az eredetivel azonos címmel. Retro-filmként is megőrizte népszerűségét, noha technikája, tempója, humora (a mai csúcstechnikás, bombasztikus effektek és gegek tükrében) ma már elavultnak tűnhet. ...

From 1953 to 1959, Thule's main mission was to function as an operations base for SAC strategic bombers, supporting SAC B-36s, B-47s, and KC-97s. In 1957, SAC activated the 4083rd Strategic Wing at Thule, consisting of B-36 bombers. During 1953, the US Army installed two 75mm and four 90mm anti-aircraft guns in a ring around Thule, for air defense. They didn't keep out the biggest enemy - winter.
Knud Rasmussen, a famous Danish explorer, began the Danish Literary Expedition in this area in 1903-04. Rasmussen returned to the area in 1906 and again in 1908 to begin a mission station in the Thule area. In 1909 the ship Godthaab, anchored in North Star Bay, and the first two buildings (a missionary and a storehouse) were built. The Danish flag has since flown in the area.
In 1910, Rasmussen and his associate, Peter Freuchen, came to the area to Cape York (Kap York Trading Post) Station. On the suggestion of Freuchen, Rasmussen named the village, which grew up around the post Thule. At that time, the area north of Mt Dundas, called Uumanaq by the Greenlanders, was still inhabited. Freuchen became the first trading post manager and held the position until 1920. The post served many purposes, such as providing a base for scientific expeditions and providing equipment and food for the native Greenlanders. The first Thule expedition set out in 1912 across the ice cap to north Greenland and back. During the second Thule expedition, 1916-18, Rasmussen mapped out the northernmost coast of Greenland geographically, geologically, botanically, and ethnologically. From 1919-24, three more expeditions took place. The AgustaWestland AW101 is a medium-lift helicopter in military and civil use. First flown in 1987, it was developed by a joint venture between Westland Helicopters in the United Kingdom and Agusta in Italy in response to national requirements for a modern naval utility helicopter. Several operators, including the armed forces of Britain, Denmark, and Portugal, use the name Merlin for their AW101 aircraft. It is manufactured at factories in Yeovil, England and Vergiate, Italy; licensed assembly work has also taken place in Japan and the United States.
Prior to 2007, the aircraft had been marketed under the designation EH101. The original designation was EHI 01, from the name given to the Anglo-Italian joint venture – European Helicopter Industries – but a transcription error changed this to EH101. In 2000, Westland Helicopters and Agusta merged to form AgustaWestland, leading to the type's current designation.
The AW101 entered into service in 1999 and has since replaced several older helicopter types, such as the Sikorsky Sea King, performing roles such as medium-sized transport, anti-submarine warfare, search and rescue, and ship-based utility operations. The Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) operates the CH-149 Cormorant variant for air-sea rescue. Another variant, the Lockheed Martin VH-71 Kestrel, was produced to serve in the US presidential transport fleet before the program was cancelled and the aircraft sold off. Civil operators use the AW101 for passenger and VIP transportation. The NH Industries NH90 is a medium-sized, twin-engine, multi-role military helicopter. It was developed in response to NATO requirements for a battlefield helicopter which would also be capable of being operated in naval environments. The Kamov Ka-50 "Black Shark" (Russian: Чёрная акула, romanized: Chyornaya akula, English: kitefin shark, NATO reporting name: Hokum A) is a Russian single-seat attack helicopter with the distinctive coaxial rotor system of the Kamov design bureau. A Pumát később licenc alapján az Egyesült Királyságban a Westland Helicopters által, majd Romániában az IAR által is gyártották IAR 330 típusjelzéssel. En. text: The caracal /ˈkærəkæl/ (Caracal caracal) is a medium-sized wild cat native to Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and India. It is characterised by a robust build, long legs, a short face, long tufted ears, and long canine teeth. Its coat is uniformly reddish tan or sandy, while the ventral parts are lighter with small reddish markings. It reaches 40–50 cm (16–20 in) at the shoulder and weighs 8–18 kg (18–40 lb). It was first scientifically described by German naturalist Johann Christian Daniel von Schreber in 1776. Three subspecies are recognised since 2017.
Typically nocturnal, the caracal is highly secretive and difficult to observe. It is territorial, and lives mainly alone or in pairs. The caracal is a carnivore that typically preys upon small mammals, birds, and rodents. It can leap higher than 4 m (12 ft) and catch birds in midair. It stalks its prey until it is within 5 m (16 ft) of it, after which it runs it down, the prey being killed by a bite to the throat or to the back of the neck. Both sexes become sexually mature by the time they are one year old and breed throughout the year. Gestation lasts between two and three months, resulting in a litter of one to six kittens. Juveniles leave their mothers at the age of nine to ten months, though a few females stay back with their mothers. The average lifespan of captive caracals is nearly 16 years.
